1. What is a Food Service Establishment permit number and how can I find mine?
A Food Service Establishment permit number is the number the City assigns to each business in the permitting process. If you do not know your Food Service Establishment permit number, you may leave the question field blank.
2. Who can apply to the program?
All dine-in food service establishments, including but not limited to restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, cafes, pizza parlors, boba shops, ice cream parlors, and juice bars.
3. What is the deadline to submit an application?
Applications will be open through April 2024.
4. How will the microgrants be awarded?
Funds are limited and are distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. Priority will be given to food service establishments located in the communities of South Los Angeles, Wilmington, Boyle Heights and Pacoima.
5. Can I purchase my own foodware and get reimbursed?
No. Program representatives will complete a needs assessment with the business and purchase eligible foodware.
6. What reusable items and services are covered as a part of this Microgrant Program?
Reusables:
- Utensils(forks,knives,spoons)
- Condiment dispensers
- Sauce cups
- Cold cups
- Hot cups
- Chopsticks
- Large plates
- Small plates
- Bowls
- Trays (i.e. carrying trays, bus bins)
7. How many items can I upgrade from single-use disposable to reusable foodware?
A Program Assessor will visit your business and complete a needs assessment.

9. What do I do if items I receive are broken?

10. Once I apply how long until I receive approval?
Once your application has been submitted, please allow two to four weeks for processing.
11. Will the microgrant cover remodeling costs?
No. The microgrants do not cover remodeling costs.
12. Can I use microgrant funding for staffing?
No. The microgrants cannot be used for staffing.
